The Shimano Citica is an updated version with plenty of features to take advantage of; combined with unparalled perforrmance and durability equals one of the best baitcasting reels on the market today. Lightweight and made from aluminum, this reel has a drilled handle shank and rubber grips that provide comfort to anglers of all types. The 4+1 ball bearings, Lo-Mass drilled spool, Super Free pinion gear system and Dartanium Drag System provide smooth casting each and every time the reel is used. The Variable Brake System leverages centrifugal force to manage spool speed on the cast. The Citica is designed with High Efficiency Gearing that keeps the drive train stable for unmatched strength, speed and unparalleled operation. Review of the Shimano Citica Baitcast Fishing Reel

I love Shimano products! Fast and reliable, the Citica is one more reel that I have decided to add to my collection. It’s smooth, powerful and contains the type of features that I am looking for in a reel of this caliber. My only regret is that I wish I would have bought it sooner!

Like other Shimano models, the Citica is very attractive. Made from some of the strongest materials and polished to shine, it is the type of reel that grabs your attention right away. It deserves a 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5 for quality and construction.

It does perform better than other brands but the weight is a bit of a turn off. I give the Citica a 3.5 for doing what it says it will do and doing it well.

A little steep for a reel that has problems with the levelwind binding. I fully expected it to be flawless and felt a little let down. 3.0 for cost.

Feature wise, the reel is very generous. The Dartanium Drag System is well worth the extra cost to me. 4.0 for features.

I was disappointed in how heavy the reel felt. I’m hoping that Shimano designs its next generation of products with comfort in mind. I do like the Variable Brake System and give the Citica a 3.5 for design.

Great in both freshwater and saltwater conditions. The Shimano Citica can be used for a variety of applications and gets a 4.5 for that.
