Appearances are seldom deceiving when it comes to Team Daiwa. I’ve owned other reels made by the company so I was eager to try out the Viento when it was first put out in the marketplace. Sleek and attractive, I got my hands on one at a great price and the rest is history. I attest to it being the best reel that I have ever owned!

When it comes to the look of the reel, it is different from prior models. Blue in color instead of Team Daiwa’s standard silver or gold, the Viento really picks up the glint of the sun. The plastic Twitchin’ bar should have been replaced with a metal one but other than that, it’s a definite 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5 for appearance.

A top notch performer through and through, you can fish with this reel with one hand. It’s the complete package with features like the Twitchin’ bar which allows you to retrieve better than ever before. Performance gets a 4.5 because there isn’t much more that you can ask for in a reel!

The cost of this reel is unmatched. Considering the number of features and the rockin’ Twitchin’ bar, no one should complain about its price which gets a 4.0.

Feature-wise, the Viento is generous. Magforce-Z is not present in the reel which is the only downfall. It is also not as refined as the Sol or Fuego. 4.5 being the kind of reel that other people envy.

Very comfortable to palm and easy to hold in one hand. Ergonomics and design get a 3.5.
Great for fishing jigs and other plastics, application gets a 4.0.

The Viento lives up to its name by being stealthy. I can’t get enough of this reel. It’s amazing and a real keeper!
